I have just returned from Tallahassee and am pleased to report HB 203 - sponsored by Rep. Stan McClain and co-sponsored by Rep. Anthony Sabatini - was voted favorably today by the Florida House Sub-Committee on Local, Federal, and Veterans Affairs.
Voting for the bill were all 9 Republican members. Voting against the bill were all 5 Democrat members.
Lobbyists from the Florida League of Cities and the Sierra Club spoke against the bill. CPR President, Dan Peterson, spoke in favor of it.
You can view the digitable recording of the debate by going to www.myfloridahouse.gov.
Once there, click on Committees; click on the Local, Federal, and Veterans Affairs Sub-Committee; then scroll down and click on October 23 in the lower right hand corner. The presentation of HB 203 begins at 44:20 into the committee meeting.
To all who forwarded the last CPR newsletter and to those who made calls or sent emails - THANK YOU! You made and difference and several members mentioned your expression to me.
HB 203 now goes to the House Commerce Committee. Its counter-part (SB 410) is in the Senate Community Affairs Committee.
The next committees will meet the week of November 4. CPR will keep you informed.
Thank you for being vigilant and taking a stand!
